Physical Needs and the Mind-Body Connection

 
 

Have you ever been h-a-n-g-ry? So hungry that you become a bit cranky; like in those snickers commercials? That is a good example of a physical need causing an emotional reaction. The mind/body connection is strong. Your brain and the rest of your body can greatly influence one another for the good or the bad. So next time your emotions seem a bit off balance, check to see if you have an unmet physical need such as hunger, thirst, temperature control, sleep, hygiene, exposure to sunlight. Meet body’s physical need and see if your emotional regulation improves.
